The Searcher - February 2026
What’s new in this issue?
On the cover this month is a spectacular Nationally Significant Bronze Age hoard we first exclusively had in the October 2020 issue. Found in Scotland by Mariusz Stepien. Mariusz stopped digging immediately when he realised it was a hoard and alerted the Treasure Trove Unit. Archaeologists spent 22 days investigating the site and they helped throughout that time. The hoard is now being researched, and I felt it really deserved to be shown in all its glory on the cover.
Other highlights are a Medieval coin hoard recovered by Craig Gizzi, a little figurine of the goddess Luna discovered by Jennie Chambers and Peter Wollweber’s very interesting article on: ‘Crowns and Hearts: Propaganda & Power in the Restoration’.
Our technical article is the long-awaited field test on the Garrett Vortex VX9 by Neil Ham and Scott Sibbald.
